Metaphorum Cooperative
Announcing the first Annual General Meeting
At last . . . . . the people
Metaphorum Cooperative is holding its first Annual General Meeting on Thursday April 30th 2026 when the people (in this case the members of the coop) take control of the organisation. The current directors must stand down and a new board is elected by the members. If you are a member you can stand as a director and, if voted in at the AGM, you will have as much influence as anyone else on how Metaphorum develops over the following 12 months.
If you are currently not a member, but wish to get involved, then please sign up.
Membership is open to everyone who agrees to support the aims and objectives of the cooperative. This costs £30 per year, which goes towards the running and development of Metaphorum.
The membership levels are shown here: https://metaphorum.org/membership-levels
If you attended the Manchester conference last year, or have graduated from one of our training courses, you will have been made a member automatically for one year.
If you are thinking of coming to Stafford’s Centenary conference in Manchester (see https://staffordbeer100.com) in September, you can sign up now, get the £50 early bird discount and become a member.

If you are a member
- you will be invited to the AGM
- you can put yourself forward as a director
- you can vote to appoint members to the Board
- you can send a resolution to be discussed at the AGM
Members elect the board of directors – which we call the Council – who are mandated to run the organisation for the following 12 months.
At the AGM we will present the financial accounts of the previous year, a summary of the work we have done and our plans for the following year.
We will send two further notifications to members. In early April, we will ask members who wish to stand as directors to send a short CV and their thoughts on the future of Metaphorum, and in mid April the official notification of the AGM.
The new Metaphorum, as a democratically run cooperative organisation, opens more opportunities for us to promote and develop Stafford’s work.
We hope you will join us!
