Dear member of the Metaphorum Cooperative
First of all - many thanks for joining the Metaphorum Cooperative. As a democratically run cooperative organisation we believe this will open many new opportunities for us to promote and develop Stafford’s work.
We will be holding the first Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday 30th April 2026 at 19.00 BST (UK time) on Zoom, and as a member you are invited. The AGM is open to all members, and these will appoint the new directors on a one-member one-vote basis. We will review the previous year’s activities, present the financial accounts and discuss our plans for the future.
As a member, you can stand as a director and, if voted in at the AGM, you will have as much influence as anyone else on how Metaphorum develops over the following 12 months.
Metaphorum has always been run by a committed group of volunteers, called the Council, who meet monthly to discuss the progress of current activities and plans for new undertakings. This does sometimes involve a serious time commitment. (For a summary of directors duties, see for example https://companieshouse.blog.gov.uk/2019/02/21/7-duties-of-a-company-director/)
If you would like to put yourself forward as a director (and thus a member of the Council), please send a short CV, how you would like to contribute, and a brief note on how you think Metaphorum should develop over the next year.
Shortly after the deadline (12th April) has passed, the full set of nominations will be sent out with the formal invitation so that other members can assess and vote on the prospective directors. We are currently setting up the voting system.
As a member you can also put a resolution to the AGM (for example “Metaphorum should put more emphasis on syntegrations”) which will be discussed and voted upon.
In summary:
-
You can put yourself forward as a director
-
You can vote to appoint members to the Board (council)
-
You can send a resolution to be discussed at the AGM
Please limit your nomination to 200 words at most.
The deadline for nominations as a director and for resolutions: Sunday 12th April
Please send both nominations and resolutions to: agm2026@metaphorum.org
It would help us if you could keep the nominations separate from the resolutions, including the word "nomination" or "resolution" in the email subject line.
We hope you will join us! |
