Dear ,
We’re pleased to share the most recent updates for our upcoming conference.
Initially, we had planned three distinct themes, but as we reviewed the interesting abstracts submitted, we noticed an emerging trend—ideas crossing boundaries, blending themes, and reflecting the value of interdisciplinary thinking.
We also have confirmation of two workshops:
- a Viable System Model (VSM)'s MasterClass, where students, VSM certified coaches, and practitioners will be invited to discuss their experience applying the VSM with VSM experts, including Martin Pfiffner, Jose Perez Rios (t.b.c.) and Angela Espinosa.
- a Team Syntegrity (TS) experience, for people wanting to experiment the approach, lead by Allenna Leonard and Juliana Alves; and followed by Joe Truss discussing new developments in TS theory and practice.
Honouring our systemic perspective and realising the emergent synergies, we've decided to embrace a more unified multi-disciplinary approach. On this basis we have clarified the title and our approach to the conference:
Collective intelligence, agency and resilience
This year’s conference will feature a merged theme, bringing everyone together in one conversational space to foster deeper discussions, multi-disciplinary solutions, networking, and collaboration across diverse sectors and experiences.
We hope that bringing all participants together will spark new synergies rooted in the holistic and adaptive thinking central to systems and organisational cybernetics.
Why this unified approach?
- To unlock Innovation and Inspiration: We will explore how the intersections between fields can illuminate new pathways for resilience, adaptability, and organisational viability. This is an opportunity to break free from mainstream silos and explore intersections that lead to groundbreaking solutions.
- Collaboration Across Boundaries: You will network and engage with professionals, experts and thought leaders from various disciplines to enrich your perspective.
- Innovate Together: Contribute to conversations that leverage multi-sector perspectives to address complex problems and design sustainable solutions.
- Co-produce new knowledge: after the conference you will be invited to co-author either an academic paper in an established systems & cybernetics journal, or in a new online journal that we hope to be launching soon, to develop publications for the creative commons.
Contribute your ideas
We welcome presentations, workshops, and other delivery designs that reflect the spirit of our collective inquiry.
- For those presenting, please submit your abstract.
- For apprentices and practitioners wanting to participate in the Master Class, please also submit an abstract summarising your experience applying the VSM and the main questions it raised
- If you're proposing a workshop, seminar, or group session, please include the title, key questions, and a brief overview of your methodology.
Regardless of your background or field of expertise, we are committed to fostering a dynamic, insightful, and collaborative environment—one where your knowledge matters, your ideas spark innovation, and your contributions drive meaningful progress for a shared future.
